We made it to Inverness, not the most northern point in Scotland, but a beating heart of pride and the most North I’ve ever traveled.
I’m getting used to the trains, switching at the right spots and saving money by getting split save tickets and realizing that nobody checks or asks my child how old he is. This is initiations after initiations and I know next time I’ll practically be able to travel as a local.
Tourist season is in full swing and hearing multiple languages as we pass each other is a thrill for me, and a curiosity why anyone else would set their sights on this place.
